Open Position – UCC AmeriCorps Garden Coordinator

EATS is seeking a 675-hour UCC AmeriCorps Individual Placement Position.

Organization and Job Description

Founded in 2013, EATS (Eat Awesome Things at School) Park City’s mission is to ensure every student has access to fresh, nutritious, appealing food and opportunities to develop lifelong positive and healthy food habits. We work with the school district and our community to improve the school food program using education as the foundation for change. We are funded through individuals, foundations, and corporate sponsorships.

Based at EATS (Eat Awesome Things at School), the UCC AmeriCorps Garden Coordinator will work with teachers who have school gardens in the Park City School District to ensure that 1) food is growing and 2) engaging, hands-on, standards-based lessons are taught using garden spaces.

During the school year (September – May), the primary focus of the Garden Coordinator role is work with on-site school garden managers (usually teachers) on both the indoor and outdoor gardens by supporting them in operation and curriculum development. The needs of each on-site manager may vary. During the summer (June – August), the service member will work with EATS staff to prepare curriculum for and facilitate EATS summer school classes and summer camp program. The service member will also be supporting school gardens to maintain outdoor garden spaces throughout the summer.
