Ecker Hill Garden Club Students Tour Bill White Farms

Bill White guided middle school students through a tour of his farm where produce is grown and processed for his many local restaurants. Students got the opportunity to press apples into fresh, sweet-tasting cider which they fervently drank on the spot.  The tour included a visit to the old farmhouse where tomatoes were drying, eggs were being stored from the dozens of chickens in residence on the farm, and also to walk amongst the handful of heritage-breed turkeys. Bill opened up the greenhouses where a variety of herbs were growing, even as the days got colder. An aquaponic system was also in construction offering a unique component to the farm for students to learn about at a future visit.
