How to Celebrate Family Meals Month this September
Join EATS in celebrating Family Meals Month; a nationwide event designed to support families in enjoying more meals together using items purchased at the grocery store and, as a result, reap the many health and social benefits of doing so.
The aim is simple: pledge to have one more meal together, at home, per week. We know that this sounds more simple on paper than it is in practice, but don’t worry! EATS has a variety of virtual cooking classes scheduled throughout the month of September to help you and your family reach or surpass this goal.
This series of virtual cooking classes, generously underwritten by Kroger, highlights members of our community who are wild about food. Each guest facilitator will join EATS to introduce a family cooking tradition and recipe of their own and host a class on how to cook their secret family recipe or to teach us how they like to make it.
Read more about each cooking class and sign up below!
Traditional Slovak Kolache with Lenka Gengelova
A Healthy Take on Funeral Potatoes with Alex Walton
Appalachian Autumn Ratatouille with Madison Magee
Midwestern Homegrown Harvest Dinner with Maddie French MS, RD, CD
Traditional Mexican Food with Miriam Garcia (coming soon!)
Fall Inspired Dinner with Emily Prieb RD (coming soon!)
Included in the price of the class is a virtual cooking class hosted via Zoom. EATS will also shop for all of the ingredients needed for each class. Ingredients can either be picked up at the EATS office on the day of the class or delivered straight to you! EATS will be adding additional classes as the fall progresses so be sure to check back to view our new offerings if something on the current list doesn’t peak your interest.
Hopefully these cooking classes inspire you to meet the goal of September: at least one family meal per week for the whole month. Share the meals you make using the hashtag #EATSFamilyMeals and tagging @kroger on any social media platform. We are looking forward to cooking with you!
